District Six Definitations
- District Six – The District Six Board of Directors wanted consistency in addressing the name in official documents – not Sixth District, D6, District 6, District No. 6, District #6. However, Headquarters refers to districts numerically. (Informal communications only/shorthand – D6.)

Trollfjell Folkehøgskule was created eight years ago for youth ‘graduating’ from Camp Trollfjell; it’s for youth aged 14 – 17. There is a separate management structure for operating the Language and Heritage Camps, but it is under the jurisdiction of the District Six Board. It is often referred to as L&H Camps. Camp Trollfjell attendees are campers. Trollfjell Folkehøgskule attendees are students.
- Recreation Center Board – a board of directors, elected during the Recreation Center Meeting during the Convention and charged with operating Camp Norge/Recreation Center. The Recreation Center Board is under the jurisdiction of the District Six Board of Directors, giving periodic reports to the District Board. The Recreation Center Board is responsible for Camp Norge/Recreation Center facilities and rents out facilities for such events as Memorial Weekend, L&H Camps, Northern CA Kretsstevne, and Camp Oldfjell. They also rent out facilities for Rosemaling weekends, Folk Dance workshops, family reunions, and other non-district sponsored events. The Recreation Center Board is responsible for promotion, facilities maintenance, and financial management of Camp Norge.
- Kretsstevner – plural for Kretsstevne. Literal translation – circuit convention. It has been said, “gathering of the clan.” A regional gathering for a day or weekend to engage in camaraderie and shared heritage and to generate funds for Camp Norge. Regular Kretsstevner are held in northern CA (NCK), central CA (CCK), and southern CA (SCK). Arizona has had a weekend Kretsstevne in the past. Generally run by regional, local lodges and/or local District Board members.
- District Lodge Meeting – the biennial gathering of elected delegates and the board of directors to conduct such business as presented, conduct a memorial service, elect and install newly elected board members, and inform and educate elected delegates from the lodges on pertinent matters of the district and Sons of Norway.
- District Convention – the total of District Lodge Meeting and ancillary/non-business events such as the Folk Art Exhibition, pre-meeting cultural and educational events, raffles, after-business-day events, fundraisers, and pre- and post-board meetings. Often written as District Lodge Meeting and Convention to encompass the whole experience. The District Lodge Meeting is encompassed in the District Convention.
- Fraternal Funds – Each district will receive funds from the international ‘district fraternal program,’ to support cultural, youth, sports related programs, and leadership seminars. Each district shall receive $1.00 per adult member from whom international dues are collected, based on the district membership report as of December 31 of the previous year. No district shall receive less than $4,500.
- Fraternal Fees – A 16% portion of the district portion of the membership dues received from Headquarters which is allocated to the District Six Recreation Center (Camp Norge). This came about with the new, simplified dues structure which eliminated all the various district and membership category rates. In District Six, that eliminated the $1, $2, or $3 (based on the distance from Camp Norge) additional membership fee allocated to Camp Norge. The 16% fraternal fees are a replacement for the old $1, $2, and $3 fees paid to Camp Norge.
